The Treehouse chat room is located on ChaTcIRCuiT, one of the IRC (internet relay chat) networks. You can get to the Treehouse by clicking on the "Chat Now" button and using the Java chat option on this website. You must have JavaScript enabled in your browser. You will get a popup from JPilot.com and/or JPilot Software. You can tick off the little box that says "Always trust content from JPilot Software". Then you need to click 'yes', clicking 'no' will prevent you from joining the chatroom. Further information about Java and JPilot can be found on their help page at: http://www.jpilot.com/java/irc/support.htmlAlternatively and the most common way of getting to the Treehouse is by using the IRC program mIRC. You can obtain this program by clicking on this link mIRC and following the instructions on how to download and install the program. Once the program has been installed on your computer, it will be necessary to add the ChaTcIRCuiT server. To do this: Go to your options
box in mirc Once connected to the ChaTcIRCuiT server you can join the Treehouse by typing /join #Treehouse in the text bar on your status screen. People using ChaTcIRCuiT and wishing to keep their nicknames are required to register them with ChaTcIRCuiT. If the nick you've chosen to use is owned by someone else, the server will ask you to change it. To change your nick use the command /nick newnick. If you're having trouble, please ask an OP in the Treehouse for assistance. For Macintosh users, Ircle is a Macintosh (only!) program to use IRC (Internet Relay Chat). Ircle enables you to talk with typed messages, in real-time, to other Internet users around the world. Chat Safety Never give out personal facts such as your name, address, telephone number or age. Never respond to messages that make you feel confused or uncomfortable. If your computer program/software has an "Ignore" command simply use that command to "ignore that person." mIRC contains the option to "Ignore" troublesome chatters Never share you password, even with friends. Do not accept files (i.e. waves, popups) from individuals you don't know. Do not answer a DCC chat request from anyone you don't know.
