Find a Crisis Center in Your Area  This listing of crisis centers was provided by the American Association of Suicidology, a non-profit organization dedicated to the understanding and prevention of suicide.

Depression

Depression Information and treatment  "Depression is one of the most common psychological problems, affecting nearly everyone through either personal experience or through depression in a family member. Each year over 17 million American adults experience a period of clinical depression."

Dissociation

The International Society for the Study of Dissociation  A nonprofit professional society to promote research and training in the identification and treatment of dissociative disorders.

Healing Hopes An online support resource for people with dissociative identity (also called multiple personalities) and their family members featuring chat channels on IRC, sections for littles, message boards, and more.

A theoretical framework of the etiology and structures of multiple personality  This article is an academic dissertation on the theoretical exploration of Dissociative Identity Disorder by Regan McClure.

Learning to cope:  Grounding techniques As survivors we all at one time or another may experience flashbacks and/or periods of intense anxiety surrounding the memories of abuse. During those times it's important to find ways to ground ourselves in the here and now until the feelings pass.

Mental Health Matters  Comprehensive resource for information and resources on mental health, psychological symptoms, traditional and alternative treatments, and medications.

National Clearinghouse of Family Violence:  "The NCFV is Canada's national resource centre for information about family violence. The NCFV collects, develops and disseminates resources on prevention, protection and treatment. By increasing awareness, the NCFV encourages Canadian communities to become involved in reducing the occurrence of family violence."

RAINN  RAINN is a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., operating America's only national hotline for victims of sexual assault. The hotline-800.656.HOPE-offers free, confidential counseling and support 24 hours a day, from anywhere in the country.

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Board "The Criminal Injuries Compensation Board is a quasi-judicial adjudicative agency that awards compensation to victims of crimes of violence that occurred in Ontario."

National Crime Bar Association: "The NCVBA provides technical support to attorneys representing crime victims in civil actions, refers crime victims to lawyers in their local area, and works to increase general awareness about the availability of civil remedies for victims of crime."

Uk: CICA  'The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority administers the criminal injuries compensation scheme throughout England, Scotland and Wales. We pay compensation to people who have been the victim of a violent crime. We operate the scheme from offices in Glasgow and London."

The Sidran Association  The Sidran Institute, a leader in traumatic stress education and advocacy, is a nationally-focused nonprofit organization devoted to helping people who have experienced traumatic life events.

CYBERTIP.CA  "Cybertip.ca is Canada's National Tipline for reporting the online sexual exploitation of children. It is a centralized web portal for receiving and addressing reports from the public regarding child pornography, luring, child sex tourism, and children who are exploited through prostitution. Cybertip.ca also provides the public with information, referrals and other resources to help Canadians keep their children safe while on the Internet."
